It's All About You
Remember
I keep abreast of the new developments in the industry.
Although I grew up in a barber shop. It was late before I followed in my father's footsteps.
I was always a gifted artist, working with ceramics, greenware, acrylics and oils for many years. I won many Blue ribbons at the York Fair over the years.
I worked in various fields, as an accountant, assistant to the manager of a convience store, etc.
When the store I worked in was leased to another group of people, I decided to make a radical change.
In late September, 1999, I entered BSI, or the Barber Styling Institute.
The very first day I realized what I was missing. I graduated in June of 2000, and passed my Barber Boards in September. My father was proud to see this happen.
I continued on and got my Barber Manager license on January 31, 2002. Most barbers do not continue past the manager level, because basically anything a teacher can do a manager can do and the license is cheaper. I on the other hand felt that I owed the profession and achieved my Barber Teacher license #435, on March 28, 2007. There are 231 active teachers in the state of Pennsylvania at this time.
I have taken it one step higher and am now a Proctor or a Monitor for the state for Barber and Cosmetology exams, and the Shop is therefore closed or by appt. on Mondays.
